When many folks think of Maine, they think of Mount Katahdin, the highest point in the state and the terminus of the Appalachian Trail. This landmark, located in Baxter State Park, can be found with many other opportunities in Central Maine.
A trip to Bangor, right off Interstate 95, shouldn’t be missed. Downtown has plenty of art galleries, museums, shops and restaurants, all within walking distance of each other. Moosehead Lake is the largest and most popular of the many lakes in the region, but all the waters have that special North Woods beauty. Canoeing, fishing and bird watching occupy the summer, while cross-country skiing and snowmobiling take up the winter.
