With a name like Nova Scotia, or New Scotland, one can imagine this province celebrates certain Gaelic traditions such as golf. Indeed, the links here have become known for their unique styling, challenging play and ocean views. In particular, the area from Yarmouth to Halifax has become a popular spot for Nova Scotia vacation rentals.
When the RMS Titanic sank, ships from Halifax performed much of the rescue and recovery, and many of the deceased lie buried there today. The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic does an excellent job telling this and other sea stories.
Toll ferries on the South Shore provide easy access to Acadia National Park and Portland, Maine, while ferries on the north end of Cape Breton Island head to Newfoundland.
