Candlelight Cottage is a romantic, oak beamed cottage overlooking the green in the picturesque village of Litton. Recently renovated and beautifully furnished to a very high standard, this 5 star self catering cottage provides all the home comforts and modern conveniences you would expect and more. A peaceful retreat, with its soft leather sofas, AGA and luxury bathroom with separate shower, Candlelight Cottage is the perfect central base for sightseeing, walking, caving, fishing, climbing, cycling, sailing or simply getting away from it all.
On arrival, you are welcomed personally by the owners, who include a generous welcome pack including locally sourced products and fresh flowers. Peak District maps, leaflets and books are provided for guests' use.
Litton lies at the heart of the Peak District, almost where the White Peak and Dark Peak meet. Ideally situated for walks through limestone dales such as Dovedale, Millers Dale, Monsal Dale and Lathkill Dale or across gritstone edges and moorland such as Stanage Edge, Kinder Scout and Bleaklow. Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Bakewell, Buxton, The Pennine Way, Limestone Way and many cycle trails are all close by. Litton benefits from an award winning village shop and The Red Lion pub, featured in The Good Pub Guide.
he spacious oak beamed sitting room enjoys fine views over Litton village green. Chinese prints adorn the walls and there are soft leather sofas in which to relax. A 32" flat screen colour TV, video and DVD recorders are provided along with a radio/CD player, iPod docking station and a selection of games, DVD’s, videos, maps and tourist information.The sunny, south facing dining kitchen is fully equipped with ceramic hob, oven, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and washing machine.
There is a twin bedded room and a room with a double bed. A radio alarm clock, hairdryer and a shaver plug are also provided. To ensure your comfort, a choice of winter or summer weight duvets is available.
The newly installed bathroom is fully tiled and features a bath, separate shower cubicle, Edwardian style suite and heated towel rail.
A stable door leads from the kitchen out into an enclosed and very private patio style garden. Garden furniture and a BBQ are provided in summer.
Stairs lead out of the kitchen down to the utility room, which houses the tumble dryer, deep freeze, and other utility items. Ample space is available here for the storage of luggage and the drying of boots and outdoor clothing.

All kinds of activity are on offer including hiking, fishing, climbing, potholing, watersports, gliding, cycling and
mountainbiking.
There are beautiful towns and villages to explore, all steeped in history. There are theatres, festivals,a local world famous opera House in nearby Buxton, all offering a broad range of cultural events.

Pricing notes
•Our changeover day is Friday, or Monday for midweek breaks
•Times of arrival and departure: The cottage is available from 3.00pm. We will contact you shortly before the start day of your holiday to arrange a time to meet you at the cottage with keys, etc
•There are no hidden extras: The rent includes linen, towels, central heating, gas and electricity
•For the comfort of all our guests, Candlelight Cottage is totally non smoking and sorry, no pets or children under the age of 8 years.
Short breaks
•We offer 3 or 4-night short breaks. 3 nights: Fri/Sat/Sun nights. 4 nights: Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs nights
•4 night midweek breaks are now the same price as 3 night weekend breaks
•During Peak Season we are unable to accept bookings for short breaks more than 2 weeks in advance of the start date. At other times of year they may be booked further in advance.
Holiday cancellation insurance
We strongly advise you to take out holiday cancellation insurance in case you have to cancel your booking due to some unforeseen circumstance. Any insurance company should be able to provide this. Please see Terms and conditions for our cancellation policy.

Cancellation Policy
In the event of cancellation, deposits are non-refundable. If a cancellation is made within four weeks of the start of your holiday, the full balance will be payable unless we are able to re-let the cottage. If we do succeed in re-letting the cottage, you are no longer liable for the balance. If you have already paid the balance, we will refund it to you less a £20 administration fee. We strongly recommend that you take out a cancellation insurance policy against this eventuality.
