Castle of Mazze' <br /><br />The monumental complex was built in XII century over the roman ruins called Castrum Pontem Copacij. The small castle was rebuilt in XIV century as the house of the master, and still it remais. The bigger one, built in XV century as a military quarter, changed after renaissance period in entertainment and guest residence.<br /> <br /> Count of Valperga family lived here since XII until XIX century; Count Eugenio Brunetta d'Usseaux lived in from 1850 to 1919; later, other eminent families owned the castle: Ghelfi of Turin, Sardi of Milan and Salino of Biella, the present owner that, through a big restoration (1978-1986), has saved the monument from abandon of second half of sixties period.<br /> <br /> Count Eugenio Brunetta d'Usseaux, while living from Mazz?, Turin and Paris, was the founder of the italian olimpic movement and first general secretary of international olimpic games.<br /> <br /> Through the centuries the castle have seen several important personalities: king Vittorio Emanuele II di Savoia, Count of Cavour, Zar Nicola II, Count Brunetta d'Usseaux, Francesco De Sanctis, Benito Mussolini.
