Even in the summer with the streets full of tourists, it doesn’t take much imagination to see the girls with their tall spinet hats leaning out of the window to listen to the lutes of the troubadours in the cafes below, the knights riding through the streets on their way to the jousting lists, the hooded peasants bringing their produce to the market. Our street is the mud track on the old 15th century map; follow it from the house, and you're at the gates of the city in 5 minutes.
