Landscaped grounds with seven varieties of palms, a hala forest (sacred to Hawaiians), and subtropical woods. Pahoa Shopping Center 5 miles away includes: Internet business center, pharmacy, fish market, grocery, deli, gift stores, Maku'u Farmer's Market Hawaiian and tropical crafts, etc. AT&T cell phone service only at the cottage; other cellular services operate in the area.
