This quiet, peaceful, and restorative 2-story country Guest House has many little touches that sets it apart from pricey inns and cheap hotels: we are affordable, spacious, and this place feels like home -- band-aids in the medicine cabinet, a wide variety of spices and teas, good coffee beans, lots of condiments, 2 coffee makers, 2 Great Rooms (one upstairs with a Large Picture Window looking at the mountains to the west, and one downstairs), 2 refrigerators (a mini upstairs in the kitchenette/breakfast nook), a full-size new one downstairs, and various important basics so you don't have to go shopping once you've spent all that time to get here (noodles, eggs, butter, popping corn [both microwave & hot air], sugar, flour, oil, vinegars, hot chocolate mixes, and more. If the weather is cold we lay the wood stove and start it up shortly before you get here. There are some books (reading, humor & picture books), jig saw puzzles, and a mah jongg set, as well as dice and several decks of cards, binoculars and most of the Audubon nature guides. This is a place to slow down, unwind, and enjoy nature. The mountain air is clean, as is the un-chlorinated Artesian well water. In summer you can go pick fresh vegetables, herbs and gourmet salad greens from the Guest House organic garden. And, for those interested, Marc offers Tai Chi Qigong most mornings and evenings. In summer, there's a wonderful pond around the corner -- fish, swim, bring your dog, and intrepid explorers can create their own pathways to the other two ponds. This is a favorite place for visitors.
In winter, you can go snowmobiling on the VAST Trail, which adjoins our property, or strap on your X-Country skis/snowshoes and explore right here. We have plenty of moose here (they take down our fence lines about 3 times a week), but they are surprisingly good at not being seen -- just leaving calling cards. Their tracks (along with deer and other 4-footeds) can be seen in the dirt where the stream crosses the old logging road.
There's plenty of parking for several vehicles, and a deck with some chairs if you want to watch the sun set from outside, study the birds coming to the feeders, laugh at the fairly tame chipmunk's antics. or sit by the gas grill as dinner is being prepared. Summer, Fall or Snow Season, Spring -- they all have their beauty and healing powers here.
