If you rent a bike, there is a good bike path (very safe even for children) from Pietrasanta downtown to Marina di Pietrasanta (beach), and from there towards Forte dei Marmi (North-bound) and towards Lido di Camaiore-Viareggio (South-bound). In order to go to the beach there is a city bus, too. You could be interested in shopping in the main streets of Pietrasanta (the pedestrian one and the surrounding streets), and I suggest the street market in Forte dei Marmi on Wednesday morning (it's one of the best street markets in Tuscany, as far as shoes and clothing are concerned). If you book a flight to Pisa, you can take a train from the Pisa Airport to Pisa Centrale (5 minutes) and from Pisa to Pietrasanta (30 minutes). From the train station to the apartments, it is a ten-minute walk through the old “Arrighina door” and the Dome Square.
