The north coast of the Dominican Republic has long been known for it's all-inclusive hotels, it's beautiful beaches, and it's wonderful people and their culture. However, just 25 minutes east of Puerto Plata international airport is the north coast's best kept secret: The international village of Cabarete ? the adventure and fun capital of the Caribbean. Unlike the "prisons"; of the all inclusive resorts in Puerto Plata, Punta Cana, La Romana, Playa Dorada etc. Cabarete Bay has recently become known as the Caribbean's free spirit vacation destination where there is indeed something for everyone from all parts of the world. Young or old, it is the destination for those that want it all! It is often said by the locals that nobody ever visits Cabarete only once!

It is located on the absolute prime spot on Cabarete bay with literally all the action right in front of your eyes but at the same time allowing you the peace and tranquility you want after an adventurous and exhaustive day or night! Undoubtedly it is like having your own private oceanfront resort without the handcuffs, the hundreds of people, the same old mass-produced buffets (we can arrange your own personal cook for a nominal fee), the repetitive blaring hotel music with a screaming DJ, and the restrictive rules and regulations of so many all-inclusive hotels.
Step out of Cabarete BayWatch and choose from water sports like Kite Boarding (check the live wind conditions on the wind meter on our activities page), Wind Surfing, Para Sailing, Sea Kayaking, Surf Boarding etc. If water sports are not your thing choose from one of two challenging golf courses. Playa Dorada about a twenty minute drive to the west and Playa Grande about a 40-minute drive to the east. Designed by Robert Trent Jones this golf course is often referred to as the Pebble Beach of the Caribbean with 12 holes on the ocean!
After a sound afternoon siesta begin your 10-minute walk along the ocean beach into the heart of the village of Cabarete. Along the way stop at one of many beach bars for a Cerveza or a Cuba Libre, have a massage or have your hair braided or arrange your kiting lesson for the next day. Once you are in town choose from one many oceanfront restaurants or bars, or just chill at a coffee shop while you soak in the wonderful culture of this unique village and it's friendly and welcoming people. Finally visit one of many ocean-front nightclubs and meringue on the warm sand under the stars into the wee hours of the morning!
