Hale Manu, which means the "Bird House", is our larger two bedroom guest house.(see website for Hale Ulu Lulu our one bedroom cottage)
It has a more relaxed, fun and playful personality. You will wake up to the sounds and sights of the various tropical birds as well as the beautiful ocean view and sunrise vistas that both of our guest houses share. Hale Manu underwent major renovations in 2004 including a new kitchen with new appliances. As with our other house Hale Ulu Lulu, we offer it extremely well equipped( see kitchen inventories on our website at www.hanaguesthouses.com The spacious Hawaiian styled architecture includes open beamed ceilings and a large center cupola for great airflow. Both bedrooms ahve ocean views and at night you will hear the surf crashing in the distance. The guest house is furnished with a fun vintage Hawaiian flair, including a 1930's vintage rattan living room set we found and shipped all the way from a samll Texas town and original oil paintings by local Hana artists. Sink yourself into the couch in our cozy reading nook and grab a book off the bamboo shelves to relax the night away. We havd a collection of coffee table books about Hawaii and Polynesia, which can be enjoyed during your stay.
We even have bird books and binoculars for the avid bird watchers.

Hale Manu sits perched up at the rear of the property. There is a large deck off the house with a charcoal BBQ, outdoor dining table and chairs and teak "steamer" lounge chairs. Enjoy sunning with great ocean views and breezes. In the evening, dine under the stars while surrounded by the beautiful gardens with fun tiki torches setting the mood.
The Guest Houses at Malanai are named after the gentle cooling breeze , (named Malanai) known for this area of Hana. We are located just three miles outside of Hana Town in the Maka’alae district, which is considered the most highly desired area of Hana. You are sure to fall in love with the picturesque and pastoral landscape, the ever-changing ocean colors and the gentle sound of the waves lulling you to sleep at night. Walk 15 minutes to the world famous Hamoa beach or 12 minutes in the other direction to the Venus pool- two of Hana’s most desired attractions – practically in our back yard! We are all about detail and comfort. Our beautiful gourmet kitchen is supplied with ample quality cookware, Calphalon pots, quality knives, a large toaster oven, microwave, rice cooker, coffee maker and grinder, blender, mixer, ice maker, plenty of Tupperware and Fiestaware serving dishes. Paper towels, sponges, garbage bags, foil, plastic wrap and cleaning goods are all supplied. Cotton bath towels, beach towels and quality 100% cotton bed linens with ample quality pillows and a beautiful Hawaiian quilt bedspread on a luxurious new queen bed. Phone, voice mail, UNLIMITED FREE CALLING IN THE STATES (no international), fax, cable T.V. w/DVD and VCR, WIRELESS INTERNET, Stereo w/CD player, washer & dryer, charcoal grill (BBQ). We even offer the use of extras when available like breadmaker, juicer, snorkeling equipment, boogie boards, board games, fruit from the garden, books and more! No inside smoking please!
