Located:
We are 10 minutes from the Kona (KOA) airport, 5 minutes from the main town of Kailua-Kona, yet remote enough not to be in the hussle and bussle. Our location is at a more comfortable elevation than down on the coast where it can be 10 degrees hotter and muggier. We don't need air conditioning because of our perfect elevation and the tradewinds!
Directions:
We are just moments from the Kona International Airport [KOA].
You come from the airport toward Kailua [turn right from airport drive onto QK Highway] (Highway 19 or Queen Kaahumanu Highway) until you come to Hina Lani Street. That is the same major street that runs next to Home Depot, the new credit union they are building, and you can see Costco from there.
If you go PAST Home Depot and see Costco as you drive by you just missed the street!
If you see on your left a gas station and mud pie factory -- you missed the street it is a bit back.
If you get so far as to see the Transfer Station (aka "Dump") on the left, or the harbor on the right you are way past the turn.
Anyway turn left from the airport highway onto Hina Lani. Take it all the way up — it is steep and winds some but it only goes up one direction.
At the top you are at Palani Road — the busy one that goes all the way back downtown. Turn right onto Palani Road. If you go left you end up toward Saddle Road and then Waimea.
As you travel down Palani you should look at the street signs that are marked on the right side of the highway. Each street is announced on the signs BEFORE you get to them.
Going downward on Palani Road, on your left you will see a big shopping "center" that has a gas station toward the left, Matsuyama Food Mart taking most of the building and Kay's Kitchen to the far right of the complex. That means you are headed in the right direction!
About 5 minutes and you will see Hao Kuni announced, turn right onto Hao Kuni.

We are on the left side, if at night especially you will see a blue fire hydrant marker in the middle of the street (we are the second marker coming down). We are at a less steep incline in a gray Plantation style house with four of those big tall fan shaped "palm" plants in front, behind a rock wall. If you see over the wall there is a circular drive to the left. You would just drive straight to the right of the circular drive and park anywhere convenient. Parking on the gravel is okay.

Activities and Attractions on Property:
Front lanai is private and opens to the private fenced front yard. Back lanai is massive and opens to the back yard where there is a picnic table, loungers and barbecue grill. Inside the master bedroom is a whirpool/soaking tub. Most of our guests come here to relax after touring, they want the peace and quiet and roominess of the house yet its central location to activities and stores. Towards the evening we have wild turkeys that come and fly up into the trees to roost for the night -- most guests think this is very interesting and get their cameras out for photos!
Activities and Attractions Nearby:
The harbour and its beaches are 10 minutes from the house. There are dozens of beaches and things to do every half mile or so there can't be any boredom. There are so many choices and it much depends on how much time and what activity level you are or are not into. Restaurant Facilities:
Kona has many options from the basic fast food to world class dining. If you want a quick local eatery we are minutes from Kay's Diner where you will often find lines because the locals go there like an obsession - a hint the food is very good and it varies from local style hamburgers and plate lunches to breakfast and hot dogs. Otherwise a quick look in the phone book or on the internet and you can find about any variety in the price range of your choice.
Services Available:
We have a two dish satellite system that feeds all the available DISH channels except pay per view and sports --> all the HBO, showtime, CINEMAX movies, news, and information you can get. WIFI internet from roadrunner is very robust and reliable. You can request a phone which can outdial to local numbers -- we do not allow 1+, 0 or incoming calls. You can request a roll a way if the 3 beds and the futon are not sufficient.
