Laughing Bear Cabin is a historic site. It was built by the Steiner family who also helped build The Timberline Lodge Near the summit of Oregon's Mt. Hood, The highest mountain in Oregon.
Our Laughing Bear is 15 miles from this year round ski area and sets inbetween the Zig Zag River and Still Creek, under old growth evergreen canopy, and at the start of over 2,000 miles of hiking and cross country skiing trails.

Located:
Our Laughing Bear is 15 miles from year round ski areas on beautiful Mt. Hood,OR and sets inbetween the Zig Zag River and Still Creek, under old growth evergreen canopy, at the start of over 2,000 miles of hiking, and cross country skiing trails. This a quiet and convenient location, off the beaten path, yet near shopping and restaurants. The elevation is at 1500ft, so snow makes an appearance, but there are not too many hassels like there would be at 4,000ft in Goverment Camp,OR.

Directions:
From Portland,OR: Take I84 East to The Troutdale Exit, turn right on 257th ave. (this will take you past Mt. Hood Community College thru the east side of Gresham) and the Road will turn into King Road after a few miles. Don't turn yet. Then you continue to HWY 26 and now turn left. You are now on HWY 26 east and will go thru the town of Sandy, OR. Continue East on HWY 26 in 17 miles you will come to a stop light in Welches, OR. From here continue forward for 2.7 miles. Now turn right on Still Creek Road, fork left over a bridge, continue to the end of the road and turn right on East Marion Road. It's the second cabin on the left.
