Four state parks preserve much of the beauty. Residents love their Seacoast walks along rocky shores, estuaries and sandy beaches, so private and city parks also provide nice strolls.
On the south end, Hampton Beach is the quintessential resort town, with restaurants, shops and other diversions. On the north end, the fun town of Portsmouth has a large concentration of opulent historic homes, owing to its former stature as one of the busiest port towns in America.
