Tennesse Vacation Cabins

Step out of the cabin with your morning coffee. The fog lifts from the hills. How will you spend another day in the Smoky Mountains? Read a book and listen to the birds sing? Maybe something more active, like a horseback ride, a hike or some trout fishing?

At some point, you’ve got to drive out to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, home to incredible panoramic vistas in some of Appalachia’s biggest mountains. These cabins combine rustic charm with modern amenities, so that vacation will be memorable and luxurious.

These Smoky Mountains cabins sit among the most majestic hills in the entire Appalachian range. They provide access to the most visited national park in the country, some exciting villages, and a bounty of outdoors recreation.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park contains 900 miles of trails that lead to 6,000-foot-plus peaks, trout-filled streams and wildflower meadows inhabited by elk. The scenic drive over Newfound Gap bisects the park, starting way down in Gatlinburg, cresting at 5,046 feet, and then dropping down to Cherokee, North Carolina. Waterfalls, overlooks and interpretive signs grace the route, which passes through so many different ecosystems that naturalists liken it to driving from Georgia to Maine.

Folks can spend several days shopping, eating and visiting the diverse attractions in Gatlinburg. Highlights include the Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum, the Mysterious Mansion, and the Guinness World of Records. Just outside of town, Ober Gatlinburg offers skiing in the winter and the 1800-foot alpine slide (a series of twisting chutes with wheeled sleds) in the summer. A day in Pigeon Forge can include a trip to Dollywood, the Smoky Mountain Speed Park, Flyaway Indoor Skydiving and dozens of other fun parks. Old Mill Square has a bakery and restaurants, and the shops sell unique Appalachian arts and crafts. Fewer towns offer a better selection of quilts.

Cherokee, a town located on the Cherokee Indian Reservation, has a Harrah’s casino where visitors often strike the jackpot. The surrounding mountains also offer whitewater rafting, mountain biking, golf and horseback riding. Of course, you can always spend a relaxing day at the cabin, reading a book or listening to the birds sing.
