Western Minnesota vacation rentals are so close to home, whether you live in Minneapolis or the Dakotas. Fortunately, this state has been blessed with plenty of lakes conveniently located near Interstate 94. Best of all, these lakes were made for wakeboarding and jet skiing. There’s Otter Lake, one of the best walleye fisheries in the state. Sauk Lake doubles as a popular snowmobiling area in the winter. Lake Osakis, home to one of the largest populations of western grebes in Minnesota, gets high marks from wildlife watchers.
The Lake Wobegon Trail, named after the fictitious town in Garrison Keillor’s Prairie Home Companion, runs 46 miles from St. Joseph to Sauk Centre on an old, converted railroad bed.
